In addition to being a creator, I’ve been an amateur art collector for years. I dream of one day waking up and having a Dean Collection equivalent worth putting into museum circulation. A girl sure can dream…
Even better, this girl can plan!
I’ve been slowly cataloging my collection and creating a profile on Artwork Archive.
If you’re interested in doing the same, feel free to use my referral code to make sure you’re also photographing and tracking your own beloved pieces.

Fine and folk: What’s the difference?
Chances are you’ve heard fine art and folk art used to describe types of work. Much like artist and artisan, there’s a fine line between the two — and it’s usually a subjective, classist, and time-bound distinction. But we live in the world as it is…
Although my high school advanced arts courses were all about fine, you know I’m here for the folk. I love utilitarian art, like baskets and textiles, and wearable art displayed in fine art fashion. That said, most of the big bucks are in fine art.
Blue-chip art tends to be old (like 17th century old) and from names found in textbooks, and so it’s fine by default and—well, there’s a lot of money in their sale.
Too many choices, much? Indecision made me put down my paintbrush and camera for years. But, the art aficionado in me is bubbling up…
Why is this on my mind?
Great question! I’m really excited to explore my life as an artist in the coming months and years. I haven’t always known if I wanted to make my own work to sell, keep, or enjoy. The more I’ve bought art that I thought I could do myself, the more my curating and collecting interests have waxed and waned. Whether to focus on fine or folk art, whether to work with artists or artisans - the options have all been paralyzing.
I mean, we’re supposed make and keep what we love, and leave the rest. Right? IDK
Like everything else in life, art is a journey and I wanted to share what’s been on my brain. Maybe you, too, are toiling with the idea of launching your art career.
If you are, you’re not alone. It is an emotional experience to expose your creativity.
Here, I’ll start sharing my work and its fits & starts.
What’s the worst that can happen?! (Don’t answer that!)
